Before you reach out

Most playback or connection issues are resolved by a quick reset. Try these in order:

Step 1

Check your server

Make sure your Plex or Jellyfin server is running and reachable from another device on the same network.

Step 2

Restart Zuno

Quit the app fully (swipe up from the app switcher on iOS) and reopen it. Re-sign in if prompted.

Step 3

Update everything

Install the latest Zuno from the App Store and update your media server to its current stable release.

Step 4

Still stuck?

Frequently asked questions

Which servers does Zuno support?

Zuno works with Plex Media Server and Jellyfin. You can connect multiple servers of either type and switch between them at any time. Zuno is not affiliated with Plex Inc. or the Jellyfin Project.

Zuno can't find or connect to my server

Check that:

  • Your server is running and reachable from another client on the same network.
  • Your phone or TV is on the same Wi-Fi network as the server (for local connections).
  • You're signed into the same account that owns the server (Plex), or you've entered the correct server URL (Jellyfin).
  • Any VPN or content-blocker on your device isn't intercepting the connection.

If you connect remotely, make sure remote access is enabled on the server itself.

Playback stutters or buffers

Try lowering the streaming quality in Settings → Playback. If you're on the same network as your server, switch to Direct Play when offered — it skips transcoding entirely.

If transcoding is required, your server's CPU may be the bottleneck. The server logs will show whether it's transcoding video, audio, or subtitles.

How do I sign in?

Plex: tap "Sign in with Plex" and complete the authorization in your browser. Zuno never sees your password.

Jellyfin: enter your server URL (for example, https://jellyfin.example.com), then your username and password.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, tap Zuno, and choose Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

For refund requests, use reportaproblem.apple.com — refunds are issued by Apple, not by us.

Restoring purchases on a new device

Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe, then open Settings → Account → Restore Purchases in Zuno. Your subscription will be re-linked automatically.

Subtitles or audio tracks aren't working

Tap the audio/subtitle icon during playback to switch tracks. If a subtitle file is missing, your server may need to scan the library again — that's a server-side action.

External subtitle files in .srt, .ass, and .vtt are supported. Image-based subtitles (PGS, VobSub) require server-side burn-in for some platforms.

Does Zuno work on Apple TV, iPad, and Mac?

Yes. A single subscription covers iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac via Family Sharing on the same Apple ID. Sign in once on each device.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

For bugs: email [email protected] with the diagnostic info listed below. For feature requests, post in our Discord or subreddit — we read everything and prioritize based on demand.

Is my data private?

Yes. Zuno talks directly to your server — we don't run a backend that proxies your library or tracks what you watch. Read the full Privacy policy.
